Gotta say, we’re pretty happy to see 2016 go. It’s been a wild and unpredictable 365 days and right now 2017 can’t come soon enough. While there are already a bunch of 2017 beer releases that have our mouths watering, we decided to look back on some of our favorite beers to help ring in the New Year. Champagne is a New Year’s Eve staple, but here at Draught Lines we like to turn the calendar year with a beer in hand.
Lagunitas 12th of Never
At least 2016 brought us some incredible new beers. One of our favorites was Lagunitas’ first and only canned offering: 12th of Never. Crushable and balanced, this bright and hoppy beer is a good one to start the long night off with.
Dogfish Head Beer for Breakfast
Probably the most tricked out beer of 2016, Beer for Breakfast’s ingredients include Guatemalan Antigua cold press coffee, maple syrup and even Rapa scrapple. It’s also a damn good stout with huge coffee notes and savory layers of flavor.
Chimay Grand Reserve
Chimay’s king-daddy beer was first brewed for the Christmas season and goes down easy during these cold months. Light, rosy and flowery, I usually grab a 25 oz. Grand Reserve for special occations like New Years Eve.
Petrus Aged Pale
With a color and flavor that hues a little closer to champagne than Chimay does, the Petrus sour as hell and one of a kind.
We can’t deny that 2016 was a crazy year. At 11.1% ABV, Weyerbacher Insanity is a fitting way to cap off the night – and the year as a whole.
