Unibroue
The brewing methods used by Unibroue have been inspired by the great European brewing traditions and, in this respect, are one of a kind in North America. The methods used stand out, in particular, from the brewing methods of the mass-producing breweries and even from the other North American craft brewers because the beer is refermented in bottles and partly-clarified only. Through these methods, specialty beers with an evolutive taste and a long shelf life are produced. The manufacturing of the beer at Unibroue is done in five phases: brewing, fermentation, clarification, bottling and kegging and, finally, refermentation in bottles in the holding room.
Unibroue Blanche de Chambly
|
Unibroue Blanche de Chambly (White of Chambly) was the first bottle— refermented ale produced by Unibroue. It is brewed from a blend of pale barley malt, wheat malt and unmalted wheat, to which selected spices and hops are blended. Blanche de Chambly is only partially filtered, retaining its natural cloud of yeast that is characteristic of the original white ales brewed during the Middle Ages. This remarkably refreshing, light-bodied white ale is exceptional with grilled fish, lemon chicken, artisan goat cheese and mussels or oysters. |
Unibroue Chambly Noire (Chambly Black)ABV: 6.2% |
The opaque blackness and beige-colored foam mousse of Chambly Noire belie its light, refreshing body. Its roasted malt character is complemented by spicy, mildly smoky notes and a suprisingly clean, dry finish featuring hints of roasted coffee beans, toast and toffee. Chambly Noire (Chambly Black) is a deceptively dark, highly drinkable ale with roasted malt character and very little hop bitterness Pair this one with grilled salmon, steak or tuna au poivre, smoked meats, coffee-crusted rack of lamb, or chocolate espresso flan. |
Unibroue Don de DieuABV: 9% |
This tripel wheat ale displays an appealing orange-golden hue with a stable, creamy head of foam. Its fruity, malty and yeasty flavor is quickly succeeded by a palate-warming finish of roasted nuts and spices. This smooth ale offers a complex flavor that is slightly fruity, malty, nutty and yeasty with a hint of unfiltered sake. Don de Dieu tastes great with grilled game meats, spicy Asian or Latin cuisine, ripened cheeses and charcuterie. |
Unibroue La Fin Du MondeABV: 9% |
Unibroue’s best-selling brand offers both subtlty and strength, with a chorus of fruit, spice and hop notes that make this highly effervescent "liquid gold" so distinctive. Its complex flavor and natural carbonation makes La Fin du Monde an ideal pairing for aged cheeses and succulent cuisine like scallops, filet mignon and duck. |
Unibroue MauditeABV: 8% |
Maudite has a deep amber-red color with a rocky foam head and an appealing aroma of wild spices and floral hop notes. It is spicy, vinous, and deliciously complex with a crisp hop finish. The robust maltiness and spiciness of this amber-red ale is counterbalanced by an assertive hop finish, offering a distinctive flavor that is cognac-like in complexity. Whether it is paired with pasta marinara, a brick-oven pizza, Flemish stew or spice-rubbed pork tenderloin, Maudite is 'devilishly' satisfying. |
Unibroue Trois PistolesABV: 9% |
Brewed with four selected malts and four exotic spices, Trois Pistoles beckons with a subtle sweetness that makes it surprisingly smooth and satisfying for a beer of such strength and complexity. Trois Pistoles is a dark brown color topped with a rich foam mousse. Its slightly sweet taste is enhanced by accents of roasted malt, cocoa, ripe fruit and dark spices with a smooth finish like an old port. Its cocoa and fruit notes make it an ideal dessert companion to semi-sweet and dark artisan chocolates. |
Unibroue TerribleABV: 10.5% |
Terrible is a dark brown abbey-style beer which is part of a collection of exotic and refined Unibroue beers brewed using 100% natural raw materials. Terrible may be drunk as an aperitif or as an after dinner digestive. This beer possesses a fruity aroma enriched with notes of roasted malt and Madeira. Its long lasting flavor is both elegant and full bodied. It should have a cellar life of ten years or longer. |
Unibroue Anniversary |
A different beer is brewed each year to commemorate the anniversary of the brewery. |
Unibroue ÉphÉmÉre AppleABV: 5.5% |
This white ale is brewed with apple must redolent of ripe Granny Smith apples. Éphémère Apple pleases the palate with a delicate balance of fruit, spice notes and just a hint of sweetness. It satisfies with each sip and refreshes in all seasons, especially when paired with an artisan cheddar cheese, pork tenderloin served with apple chutney or Vidalia onion soup. Enjoy this beer 'alfresco' while dining in the afternoon sun, relaxing at a family gathering or at a picnic in the back yard. |
