Sea Dog Brewing Co.
The original Sea Dog Brewing Co. was founded by Pete Camplin, Sr. in 1993 in the historic shipbuilding town of Camden, Maine, starting with a 240 seat brewpub and kegging brewery overlooking the dramatic waterfall of the old Knox Woolen Mill. In 1995, Sea Dog opened a second facility, this time a 540 seat restaurant and brewery on the banks of the historic Penobscot River in downtown Bangor. The Sea Dog Brewing Company and their beers are unique within the American craft brewing movement. The beers are formulated and brewed in a traditional style using regionally appropriate ingredients such as imported English two-row malted barley for the ales and imported German hops and grains for the lagers. Fermentation is also done in a traditional manner using a British top-fermenting yeast in open fermenters to create a balanced and fruity flavored ale with a crisp finish, unique to true top-fermented beers. Sea Dog Brewing Co. is one of the few craft breweries in New England brewing both traditional ales and lagers

Shipyard Brewing Company
Shipyard Brewing Company was born in 1992 when real estate consultant Fred Forsley, who was about to recommended a troubled retail development in Kennebunk, Maine, which was located on three historic 19th century shipyards, to an investor, was introduced to a new Maine resident, Alan Pugsley. A British master brewer and brewery consultant, Pugsley was schooled and trained in the art of English ale brewing by the legendary Peter Austin. Out of this new relationship came Federal Jack's Brew Pub, the birthplace of Shipyard ales, which was named for one of the most famous ships to be built on this site on the Kennebunk River. The facility at Kennebunk was quickly outgrown and in 1994 four acres on Portland's historic working waterfront became the location for The Shipyard's second facility. The Portland facility has undergone three expansions since its opening and has increased capacity from 18,000 barrels to 85,000 barrels. Shipyard opened the world's first airport microbrewery in the Orlando (Florida) International Airport in 1997.

Greene King Brewery
Some things never change, and taste and quality of ingredients, are as important now as they were in 1887 when Greene, King and Sons was launched. Indeed Frederick King, of a traditional farming background, insisted on only the very best, locally grown, East Suffolk hops, selected for their distinctive aroma and pronounced flavor.
When Edward Greene died in 1891 his obituary in the London Star described him as: “one of the first country brewers to discover that beer need not be a vile, black, turgid stuff but brewed to a bright amber-colored liquid, full of character and flavor of its own, which he sold at a shilling a gallon and made a fortune.”
Greene King brews all of its beers in Bury St Edmunds, where ale has been a feature of life since at least as far back as 1086. This brewery takes the traditional art of brewing to new heights, producing what is arguably the finest range of cask ales in the country.
Old Speckled HenABV: 5.2% |
This brew was first brewed in Abingdon, Oxfordshire to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory. The name is actually derived from the name “owld speckled un”, a term used to describe an old MG car used as a factory run-around. Over time, this unusual, canvas-covered saloon became covered with flecks of paint and was dubbed the “owld speckled ‘un” by locals. Old Speckled Hen is a great choice for those who enjoy a rich, strong beer to drink. It has a superb rich, malty and fruity aroma. When tasting it you will experience a wonderful warming flavor that is bursting with body. Malty (malt loaf) toffee flavors from the pale and crystal malts combine with bitterness on the back of the tongue to give balanced sweetness which is not cloying. This is followed by a dry finish, surprising for an ale of this strength. Old Speckled Hen is a perfect match for full flavored foods like game, roasts and mature cheeses. |
Tanner's JackABV: 4.4% |
Named after the old Tanner’s drinking vessels, which were known as Jacks. They were in common use from medieval times through the 19th century. A soft, reddish brown ale with a nutty/malty palette, background sweetness and a smooth finish. A smooth tasting cask conditioned premium ale. It has a fuller, sweeter taste than traditional ales with more character in the flavor than the aroma. The background sweetness combined with nutty, malty flavors give it a fuller body, yet it is an easy drinking premium ale. Try this brew with steak or barbeque. |
Greene King Abbot AleABV: 5% |
Greene King's flagship brand Abbot Ale is a favorite with the nation's discerning beer drinker. Abbot Ale has masses of ripe fruit character, a malty richness and superb hop balance followed by an intense bittersweet finish. An iconic beer, Abbot Ale is brewed longer in a traditional way in order to achieve its world famous distinctive taste. The secret of Abbot Ale lies not only in its ingredients but the way it is treated along every step of its production, from the arrival of the raw ingredients at the brewery to the cask and beyond. Abbot Ale is brewed with pale crystal and amber malts to give an attractive color and rich malty taste. Challenger hops give it bitterness with a spicy overtone and to really boost the taste and aroma to the maximum. It is late-hopped with Fuggles to provide the floral tones and fruity esters. Full flavored, smooth and mature, Abbot Ale is an exceptional, quality drink that pairs quite well with mature cheeses and rich pasta dishes. No wonder this beer is the first choice for so many discerning real ale lovers. |
Wexford Irish Cream AleABV: 5% |

DeSmedt Brewery
DeSmedt Brewery is nearby the Affligem Benedictine Monastery in Flanders, which was founded in 1074 and where beer was brewed until the advent of WWI. DeSmedt today is the brewer of the renowned beers which bear the Affligem name.
Affligem
"The Burgundies of Belgium"
In Belgium, beer is the most popular and most consumed alcoholic beverage, and a symbol of national pride and tradition. The per capita consumption of beer is among the highest in Belgium compared with the rest of Europe. In 1950, 663 breweries were active in Belgium, until 1999, when a large consolidation took place bringing the total number down to 118. Most of the brewers have a strong local heritage and mainly produce for consumption in the local or regional marketplace in Belgium.
AFFLIGEM BLONDABV: 6.8% |
The classic, clear blond abbey ale is low on bitterness and eminently drinkable. It is golden in color with a dense, creamy head, honey and spice notes, with a velvety smooth, clean finish. With 7% power and sweet malt flavor, this beer needs a big dish to match it. Lean towards more flavorful cuts of pork and lamb, try it with grilled salmon with a light glaze (this beer will work well in the glaze, too). Also works very well as a before-dinner aperitif beer. |
AFFLIGEM DubbelABV: 6.8% |
Very dense brown ale that is brewed with dark malt. It is a sweet and generous beer with red apple, pear and ripe apricot scents and faint touches of hops and sour dough. Mahogany in color with a beige foam and infinite head retention, Affligem Dubbel has a clean, dark malt character, with supplemental flavors of candied almonds and baked pears. Dubbel is one of the most versatile food beers. It's great with a wide range of cheeses, pairs well with beef, game, and osso bucco, works with deep, flavorful stews and soups, and is a natural with rich desserts, particularly chocolate and dark fruits. A great beer for Thanksgiving. |
AFFLIGEM TRIPELABV: 8.5%
|
The crown jewel of abbey ale, Affligem Tripel, was awarded the Gold Medal in the 2004 World Beer Cup. It has a fragrant aroma and a dense creamy head. Affligem Tripel has a rich amber color and a complex fruitiness with a whiskey-ish finish. Versatile and delicious, this beer pairs nicely with fish and shellfish, chicken, and creamy pasta dishes. But don't think that means it can't handle big flavors; tripel does well with big, pungent cheeses, Roquefort, Stilton, Gorgonzola and the like. |
AFFLIGEM NOELABV: 7.2 |
This Christmas brew is the most luxuriously flavored beer of all of the Affligems. A pruney, brandyish brew is perfect after Christmas dinner. Like the dubbel, only bigger, so go bigger with the food or just get a snifter and relax with it. |
Birra Moretti
Moretti Beer is brewed in Udine, in the Fruili region of northern Italy, since 1859. For five generations, the beers from the Moretti family have combine German, Czech and Viennese brewing expertise with Italian craftsmanship to produce a unique beer of Old World heritage.
Birra MorettiABV: 4.6%
|
A genuine beer produced using a traditional process that has remained almost unchanged since 1859. To produce Birra Moretti, only the highest quality raw materials are used and a particular mixture of valuable hops, that gives the beer its aroma and unique fragrance, intensifying the slight bitter flavur. It is a low fermented beer that has a golden color, the tone of which is given by the quality of malt used. In fact it is a perfect accompaniment to both dinner and lunch or to drink in the evening with friends. |
Birra Moretti La RossaABV: 7.2%
|
A double bock beer produced using high quality 100% malted barley, giving it a rich sweet taste and an intense fragrance of roasted malt. The amber colour that characterizes the beer, comes from kind of malt used in the recipe (malt is dried, roasted barley). Another key ingredients is hops, the variety used is particularly aromatic, giving a characteristic bitter aftertaste and a delicate fragrance to the beer. |
