Star Brand Imports, based in White Plains, NY, imports and markets a wide range of specialty beer brands. From County Cork, Ireland come Murphy's Stout and Murphy's Red both brewed according to the original recipes. The beers of Affligem are brewed in Belgium. A member of the Heineken Group, Star Brand Imports was established in 1980 as Fischer Beverages International – the American affiliate of Brasserie Fischer S.A. in Strasbourg, France. In 1996, Brasserie Fischer S.A. was sold to Heineken. Since founded over 20 years ago, Fischer Beverages International has stood for distinctive specialty beers from around the world. Over the last two years, the company has completed major overhauls in operations and marketing, acquired new brands and strengthened its relationship with Heineken. The name change marks a new era for the company.
Murphy Brewery
The Murphy Brewery was founded by James J. Murphy in Cork, Ireland in 1856. The name of the brewery is linked to Our Lady’s Well, situated across the road and once a major source of water for the local inhabitants. The Murphy name is the most popular name in Ireland. With a history dating from 1856, Murphy's Irish Stout encompasses the brewing techniques of the famous Cork brewery. Two world wars, the Irish civil war and many decades later, Murphy's is now consumed in over 70 countries worldwide.
