Great Divide Brewing Company

www.greatdivide.com

Great Divide Brewing Company in downtown Denver, Colorado was created by Brian and Tara Dunn in 1993. The site was an abandoned building in the shadows of what would later become Denver’s new ballpark. Great Divide, the only brewery in Denver with a pub, handcrafts over 80,000 cases of fresh beer each year, and has won more national and international awards than any other Denver brewery.

Great Divide Hercules Double IPA

ABV: 9.1%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules’ aggressive, punchy hop profile.  This IPA tastes great with grilled fish tacos, grilled scallops, chips and guacamole.

Great Divide Old Ruffian Barley Wine

ABV: 10.2%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Old Ruffian is a hefty, hop-forward barley wine. Seemingly mellow at first sniff, with its subtle fruit aromas and complex caramel sweetness, this deep mahogany-hued ale quickly shows its true character marked by bold hop flavors and massive hop bitterness. Old Ruffian’s rich, slightly creamy, caramel malt mouthfeel balances its grapefruit, pine and floral hop flavors, working wonders on your palate.  Savor Old Ruffian Barley Wine with Stilton or British Blue cheese, served with walnuts and dried figs or dried tart cherries.

Great Divide Titan IPA

ABV: 6.8%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Titan IPA is brewed for hop disciples – independent beer drinkers seeking out robust, flavorful beers characterized by their abundance of hops flavor, aroma and bitterness. As a big, aggressively hopped India Pale Ale, Titan IPA fills this bill. It begins with piney hop aromas and citrus hop flavors and finishes with a rich, malty sweetness that is carefully balanced with crisp hop bitterness.  Try this with foods that have big, bold, spicy flavors, like Thai curries (panang or red curry), or pad Thai grilled salmon.

Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout

ABV: 9.5%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Traditionally, Imperial Stouts, the biggest and boldest of all stouts, were brewed with massive amounts of roasted malts and hops, resulting in a velvety smooth but robust beer characterized by high alcohol content and extremely high hop bitterness. Meeting the challenge of this aggressive, challenging beer style, Great Divide’s Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti’s hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish.

Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout

ABV: 9.5%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti?  Serve Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout with Blue cheese, a New York Strip or all natural vanilla ice cream.

Great Divide Wild Raspberry Ale

ABV: 5.6%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

What better way to surprise a beer lover than with a fruit beer that tastes like beer? Wild Raspberry Ale is truly an effervescent, ruby red ale that achieves the almost impossible balance between malted barley and tart raspberry fruitiness. Wild Raspberry Ale is fermented with hundreds of pounds of real red and black raspberries. Its naturally tart character makes Wild Raspberry the ultimate accompaniment to spicy Mexican food or on its own as a stand-alone session beer.

Great Divide Samurai

ABV: 5.1%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Looking for something a little different? Brewed with rice and barley malts, Samurai, is an easy drinking, unfiltered ale that changes the status quo for unfiltered beers. The addition of rice gives Samurai a slightly fruity, crisp, refreshing and clean taste. This is definitely not your everyday unfiltered beer.

A variety pack that includes many of your favorite brews from Great Divide.

Great Divide Hibernation Ale

ABV: 8.1%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Great Divide’s award-winning Hibernation Ale is Colorado’s original strong ale – it has been the winter seasonal each year since 1995. Since that time, Hibernation has become the most sought-after winter beer in Colorado. Hibernation’s massive flavors are so intense that it requires over three months of aging each year.  Hibernation is cellared until late October, when it reaches the peak of perfection. The lengthy aging process gives Hibernation its revered malty richness, complex hop profile and hearty warming character, which is perfect right out of the bottle or cellared for longer periods of time. Hibernation is a lively treat that really beats the winter chill. Try it with Roomano – a four-year aged, hard Dutch cow’s milk cheese, with a nutty, toffee-like sweetness or Mimolette – a nutty, sweet, gouda-like French cow’s milk cheese.  This scrumptious, collectible, and imminently cellarable ale is only available for six weeks each year.  Hibernation Ale is the perfect gift or accompaniment to your winter festivities.  Available in November and December.

Great Divide Fresh Hop Pale Ale

ABV: 6.1%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

The September hop harvest is a once-a-year opportunity to brew with fresh hops, also called “wet hops.” Given the perishable nature of just-harvested hop cones, they are shipped overnight to Great Divide shortly after harvest. The morning of the scheduled hop delivery in Denver, Great Divide’s brewers begin brewing Fresh Hop and are ready to hop the beer just as the fresh hops are delivered.  Using fresh hops is a big endeavor, requiring four to five times the volume of hops compared to the usual process of using pelletized hops. This complex process brings impressive results: Fresh Hop is an American-style pale ale with moderate hop bitterness marked by a unique and intensely grassy hop flavor and aroma. Fresh Hop is a superbly refreshing, medium bodied, light-copper colored pale ale. The fresh, grassy hops of Fresh Hop pair extremely well with Epoisses, a runny, rich intensely perfumed cheese, grilled trout, bratwurst and garlic/ginger sweet potatoes.

Great Divide Claymore Scotch Ale

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore is great Divide’s tribute to the “Wee Heavy” beers of Scotland.  This malty, deep-ruby colored beauty features lots of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile and a subtle warming character.  Available in spring.

Great Divide Dunkel Weiss

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Think of it as hefeweizen’s older brother. A hearty mix of wheat and dark German barley malts gives it a medium body and muddy brown hue, while Great Divide’s proprietary yeast strain provides the signature notes of banana and clove. If you like wheat beers, come to the Dunkel side. You won’t be disappointed. Just don’t put a lemon in it. Roasted chicken, potatoes au gratin, pan-fried trout and pecan pie all taste even better when paired with this dark wheat ale.

Great Divide Colette Saison Farmhouse Ale

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Saison is Great Divide’s homage to the beers that Belgian farm workers have enjoyed for centuries. Brewed with barley, wheat and rice and fermented at high temperatures with a special blend of four different yeast strains, Saison is fruity and slightly tart, with a dry finish that makes it the rarest of treats - a beer as refreshing as it is complex. Try this farmhouse ale with Charcuterie plate (country sausage & sauerkraut), foie gras, Indian curry or Camembert cheese.

Great Divide Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Stout

Great Divide Brewing Co.

A generous infusion of espresso adds yet another layer of complexity to this beer, combining with the vanilla oak character, intense roasty maltiness and bold hop profile to create a whole new breed of mythical creature. This is a stout aged on oak chips with coffee added. It’s official: You can now have Yeti with breakfast. This Imperial stout is perfect with a breakfast burrito, eggs Benedict, hash browns, cheesecake and creme brulee.

Great Divide Belgica

ABV: 7.2%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Belgica, the Roman name for the Low Countries is a marriage of the best in American and Belgian brewing traditions. Belgian pilsner malt, a generous amount of American and European hops and a unique Belgian yeast strain combine to give Belgica big not

es of citrus and spice, creating a lively concoction perfect for summer in the rockies—or the Ardennes. This Belgian-style India Pale Ale is perfect with Thai curry mussls, crab cakes and roast turkey.

Great Divide HOSS Rye Lager

ABV: 6.4%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

This beer is based on the Märzen lagers of Germany. Rich, layered malt notes, with hints of cherry and dark fruits, dominate, while the unique addition of rye imparts a slightly earthy, spicy character. Hoss is vibrantly red-orange in color, and it features a crisp, dry finish. Available in the fall.

Great Divide Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout

ABV: 9.5%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

This is the newest incarnation of Great Divide’s revered imperial stout. They toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. A Yeti for summer? Hell yes. This beer brings out the best in raw oysters, grilled NY strip, chicken mole, blue cheese, crème bruleé and chocolate raspberry mousse cake.

Great Divide Double Wit

ABV: 8.1%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

This is Great Divide’s more muscular take on the beloved white ales of Belgium. Unmalted wheat and Belgian malted barley give the beer a light body and straw hue, while coriander and curaçao provide the traditional notes of spice and light acidity. This cloudy, deceptively drinkable creation should be enjoyed without the addition of fruit. This one is great with steamed mussels or a lemon tart. Available in the summer.

Great Divide 15th Anniversary Wood Aged Double IPA

ABV: 10.0%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Based on their Denver Pale Ale, this copper-hued treat is a celebration of everything Great Divide does best. Plenty of malty sweetness provides a backdrop for earthy, floral English and American hops, while French and American oak round off the edges and provide a touch of vanilla. Try this one with a bacon & blue cheese hamburger, barbecue ribs, sticky toffee pudding or caramel cheesecake.

Great Divide Tripel

ABV: 9.3%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Tripel is Great Divide’s nod to the classic strong abbey ales of Belgium. Fruity yeast character dominates throughout, while a balance of sweet malt and noble hops gives way to a bit of warmth in the finish. Tripel is straw-hued and medium-bodied, and is dangerously drinkable for a beer at 9.3% alcohol by volume. Available in the fall.

Great Divide Rumple IPA

ABV: 7.1%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

This American IPA, with subtle nuance, is brewed with heavy handed additions of Pacific Northwest hops and gently aged on French and American oak. The result is a wonderful balance of bitterness, caramel sweetness, vanilla and undertones of pine and citrus- a very inspiring brew, available in the fall.

Great Divide Smoked Baltic Porter

ABV:6.2%

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Brewed with traditional German malts and hops, this dark lager gets its special twist from a hefty addition of Bamberg smoked malt. This smoldering, medium-bodied lager is sure to please. Smoked Baltic Porter is smooth, smoky and dry…mysterious enough yet?
