Duvel Moortgat USA

In 1871, Jay Leonard Moortgat began brewing his beers with passionate craftsmanship.  Today, the fourth Moortgat generation is proudly continuing his legacy.  Duvel, or “devil,” is their flagship brand to which the Moortgats owe their fame.  Thanks to Duvel, they are internationally renowned as the specialist in the niche market of blond, high fermentation, bottle conditioned beers.  In the new millennium, Duvel Moortgat is an independent, stock exchange- listed brewery group that is dedicated to authentic, natural specialty beers.  In addition, Duvel Moortgat has grown to become one of the largest brewery groups in Belgium, exporting its beers to every continent.

Duvel

ABV: 8.5%

Duvel Moortgat USA

The brewery’s flagship brand, is a very unique, strong golden ale. No other beer is made like or tastes like it.  Blonde and refreshing like a pilsner, but with the flavor, depth and complexity of an ale, Duvel is a pale light golden color with a slight haze and rich head. Sourdough yeast and Brazil nut aromas follow through to a sweet-tart medium-to-full bodied palate with flavors of orange zest, grapefruit and pear brandy. Duvel finishes with a nice impression of balanced hops. A clean, well-made quaffer that is perfect with poultry.

Duvel Green

ABV: 6.8%

Duvel Moortgat USA

Unlike Duvel, that is fermented twice, Duvel Green is single-fermented, run through a cold filter, conditioned for the keg and drank right away. This young, or as the Belgians like to say, green Duvel has a gentle hoppiness, soft carbonation and subtle, smooth dryness with hints of fruitiness. Lively and spritzy. Smooth and light on the tongue with crisp, young beer brightness.
