This Schwarzbier (literally meaning black beer) is dark in color, although not a stout or porter. It is a medium bodied lager brewed with several different roasts of malt. The end result is remarkably smooth with a depth of chocolate and caramel malt character. This beer is even more wonderful when paired with tomato sauce, roasted poultry or “mahogany” style wings, just like the Octoberfest, but fortunately Black Lager is available all year round!
